Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenHe was enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his role as The Killing's lead actor, he also appeared in two other critically acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also was in the episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is fluent in English, Swedish and German. He also has several accents. According to Mikkelsen's sources the story, he and his brother were taught English by studying Monty Python records.
